Newsletter – Q3 25

Hi there! It’s been a few quarters since our last update (we promise we weren’t just having coffee breaks). Behind the scenes, we’ve been busy sanding, polishing, and bringing a fresh lick o’ paint to The Toolbox – all thanks to your sharp feedback and big ideas. Now, we’re back with our quarterly update, packed with fresh resources, inspiring case studies, and a few events you won’t want to miss.

Here’s a quick look at what’s inside:

  • A refreshed platform: clearer fonts, simplified layouts, and a smarter resource library that’s easier to search and download.
  • Spotlight stories: from a NewportFILM case study, to Toulouse Business School students putting the Toolbox into action.
  • In the news: a feature on the Protect Our Winters (POW) blog celebrating how this community is driving change worldwide.
  • Events: from The Sustainability Toolbox Breakfast at Sport Positive Summit in London in October, to the launch of the Marine Impact Lab in Amsterdam in November, to our team joining the Magenta Project to spotlight women in STEM just this last month.

We’re excited to be back in your inbox – and even more excited to share how the Toolbox is being used, tested, and celebrated across industries. So, grab a coffee, settle in, and let’s dive into what’s new.

We’ve refreshed our carbon calculators with the latest 2025 DESNZ carbon factors, ensuring your footprint calculations are as accurate and up to date as possible. These updated factors reflect the most recent government and industry data, helping you track emissions with confidence and align your reporting with the latest standards.

What this means for you:

  • More accurate results – alignment with current emission factors.
  • Future-ready reporting – stay ahead of compliance and disclosure requirements.
  • Seamless experience – no extra steps needed;
the calculators are ready to use.

Download the updated calculators today with the button below and keep your sustainability reporting relevant and up to date.

We’re excited to share our latest Toolbox Community Case Study, spotlighting newportFILM – a Rhode Island cultural institution known for its powerful documentary screenings and vibrant community events.

By Using the The Toolbox tools, newportFILM has been able to:

  • Measure impact through Step 7 trackers,
capturing waste diversion and bike-to-event participation.
  • Formalize sustainability with a policy framework guided by
Step 2: How to Create a Sustainability Policy.
  • Foster partnerships with local vendors, Bike Newport,
and the city of Newport to embed sustainability in every event.

Looking ahead, newportFILM will continue using The Toolbox to tackle challenges like reducing reliance on diesel generators, while strengthening their role as both an operational and educational leader in sustainable event management.

This case study shows how organizations can use The Toolbox to codify practices, enhance data-driven decision-making, and build community engagement – setting a model for sustainable events nationwide.

Your feedback is what keeps The Toolbox evolving. Over the past few years, you’ve shared ideas, helped us spot errors, and suggested ways to make our resources better – and we’ve taken it all on board.

Over the last few months, we’ve completed a full audit of our resource library to make sure everything is easier to use, more consistent, and fully up to date

Here’s what’s changed:

  • New, clearer fonts for improved readability
  • Protected cells and sheets to guide data entry
  • Simplified layouts and formatting
  • A new naming structure for easier navigation
  • Resources in German language

We've also improved how the platform works:

  • You can now download multiple resources at once.
  • Our new numbering code system and resource map makes it easier to find exactly what you need

We’re always learning and improving – thanks to you. Keep the feedback coming!
We believe that these resources are now tip top, check them out on the platform today.

Our friends over at Protect Our Winters (POW) have spotlighted the Toolbox in their blog! The feature dives into our origin story – how the idea was born during the 11th Hour Racing Team’s downtime – and celebrates how it’s now being used worldwide across 95+ sectors.

POW also highlights some of the amazing ways our community is putting the Toolbox into action: from Ski Austria setting international standards, to an outdoor brand redesigning its packaging, to a non-profit using the framework to strengthen its governance and accountability.

We’re thrilled to see these stories celebrated on such a powerful platform – proof that this community is making real change.

Toolbox Founder Amy Munro and Community Manager Isaac Murray joined an incredible day bringing women in STEM together at The Magenta Project Portsmouth clinic. Held as part of The Ocean Race Europe, the clinic invited partners to collaborate on giving women – both established and breaking into the industry – a frontline view on sustainability in offshore racing: what’s working and what still needs to change.

On the panel, Amy and Isaac spoke about pathways into sustainability careers and how The Toolbox can help those aspiring to make their roles more sustainable do exactly that.
